Ukrainian Bible Institute

Ukrainian Bible institute

Since the fall of the USSR over 70 congregations of the Lord’s Church have been established just in the Donbass region of Ukraine alone. There are already more congregations of the Lord’s church in Ukraine than in all the rest of Europe and Russia combined. As a result, our brethren have seen the need to train men and women who are evangelistic at heart and committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ

This growth is affecting the evangelization of all of Eastern Europe, like never before in our history. The Ukrainian Bible Institute (UBI) is a vital part of that leadership. We are keeping a strong emphasis on evangelism and training so that brethren in Ukraine and Russia will be equipped to carry the gospel to their own people and beyond.

  • UBI is committed to teaching them the Word, training them in evangelism and love for others.
  • UBI believes that training people in their own culture is the most efficient use of people and resources in the church today.
  • UBI is proud to be a partner with the Sunset International Bible Institute in teaching native people from many cultures in their own cultural and economic setting.

  • What UBI Offers

We now offer a three-year program of Bible and evangelism. Our training offers both Biblical and practical training. UBI provides training for elders, preachers and workers.

Our first two years are primarily classroom training. The students study each book of the Bible plus subjects such as Greek, Christian Marriage and Family Life, Christian Evidences, Church History, Denominational Doctrines, The New Testament Church, Exegesis, Fundamental Theology, and many more. Besides these classes students are working in local congregations, the men are taking preacher training classes and the women are learning to teach children, ladies classes, and hospitality.

Our third year program involves working with a local congregation under the guidance of elders, local preachers and one of our staff members. Students will also be required to write several term papers and attend seminar classes on evangelism, practical help in local church work, and church planting.

  • We also provide some facilities for student housing.
  • We have a recreation room.
  • We have a kitchen where students can cook their own meals.

  • Distance learning

UBI also offers courses by distance learning. Students listen to lectures on CD’s, take notes, tests and do any other requirements. Only first year courses are offered. The second year will have to be in residence.

  • Presently we have 23 fulltime students.
  • We have 26 distance-learning students.
  • We have a number of quality teachers that come over from the United States to teach classes. These are taught using our excellent translators.

One of our goals has been to have the majority of our teaching done by Ukrainians. Presently we have two fulltime Ukrainians on staff at UBI.

Our students come from numerous locations. We have had students from Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, and the United States. We are happy that we can serve people from all over the former Soviet Union.

In the near future we will be offering classes in other cities. With the use of modern technology all of our resident classes in Donetsk can be offered elsewhere in real-time (video conferencing) with preacher trainees from these other cities. The equipment has been purchased and we are just waiting for installation.

    What can you do?

Send students from locations you work with to be trained. Support for a single student is $150 a month. For a couple the need is from $300 to $350 based on need. Let us know and we can provide the necessary information and forms for recommendation and registration of new students.

Provide support for students at UBI. We are looking for people willing to help support students.

We are needing to do more renovation to our building. Could you give a one time contribution to help? Student rooms need renovating. We house 3 to 4 students per room. We have 5 rooms for students. The building itself needs a face lift on the outside.

We are needing to expand our library through the purchase of books in the Russian and Ukrainian languages.

Our students are involved in special evangelistic efforts. We need funding for transportation, advertising, etc. on these efforts.

Under support options you will see various needs. You may not be able to provide the total need. Any amount you can give will be helpful and appreciated.
